Backtests a disclosed hedge-fund cloning strategy across completed 13F disclosure intervals without look-ahead. WHEN TO USE: User wants to know how a fund-cloning strategy would have performed. Examples: - "Backtest cloning Renaissance's top 10 since 2023" - "What's the return on copying Pershing Square's portfolio?" - "How would I have done following Buffett's top 5?" PARAMETERS: - top_n: 5, 10, or 20 positions (default 5; anonymous/free support 5) - rank_by: conviction or weight - scenario: all / new_only / double_downs / high_conviction (anonymous/free support all) - start_quarter: optional historical start (paid default: 2018-Q1; anonymous/free default: latest 4 completed intervals) Unsupported top_n, scenario, or explicit anonymous/free history requests return access_limited and are never rewritten. RETURNS: Requested and effective history bounds, any quarter excluded because its effective disclosure left no positive holding interval, compact available/returned history scope, source-check time, filing-date methodology, disclosure dates, paired-position and used-SPY price-date ranges, complete-basket interval and cumulative returns, matching-date SPY comparisons, price coverage, and explicitly scoped summary statistics. A partial basket never becomes a headline return: its normalized priced-subset estimate is reported only when at least one position is paired, compounded results stay null, and data_status identifies the root gap.
